Monkton Pupils Help at Christmas Fayre

A group of pupils from Monkton volunteered to go to the Christmas Fayre at St Martin's Garden Primary School to help run games and stalls.

Aims

To provide support to St Martin's Garden to run their fayre which was the first for many years and designed to bring the whole community together.

Background

This is an ongoing partnership between Monkton and St Martin's Garden. The opportunity arose out of a conversation between the two schools.

Resources

7 Monkton pupils and 1 member of staff went to the fayre. We supplied some equipment for games.

Impact

This was beneficial both for Monkton pupils and St Martin's Garden. We were able to provide extra pairs of hands to smooth the operation of the event. Monkton pupils also learn about service through helping at events such as this.

Some feedback from St Martin's Garden shows the ongoing benefit of this partnership:

"I hope we can link up again soon as I believe through these partnerships we can raise aspirations for our pupils and help Monkton students understand the social responsibility they have as they grow up."

Pupil Involvement

A mixed age group of 7 Monkton pupils volunteered for this event.

Frequency

This event was a one-off but this will be an ongoing partnership between Monkton and St Martin's Garden.
