Monkton Pupils Environment Partnership with Winsley
Monkton pupils built raised beds at Winsley Primary School as part of an ongoing partnership to help develop their outdoor spaces and give our pupils experience in environment education/maintenance.
Aims
To develop the outdoor spaces at Winsley for the benefit of their whole school community.
For Monkton pupils to develop the service element of their education and learn key skills in outdoor/environment maintenance.
Background
This is part of an ongoing partnership between Monkton and Winsley, developed by the Head at Winsley and teaching staff at Monkton.
Resources
Monkton pupils built the raised beds, supported by the Monkton Grounds team. Three members of Monkton staff (2 teaching and 1 grounds) accompanied our pupils to Winsley.
The materials were paid for by Winsley School PTA.
Impact
These raised beds, and additional work on the outdoor space at Winsley benefits all pupils at the school - the Headteacher and a Year 5 pupil explained to Monkton pupils their gratitude and the impact of the project.
Monkton pupils also benefit from learning new skills and developing an attitude of service and perseverance.
Pupil Involvement
Eleven Year 12 Monkton pupils, boys and girls, were involved in the project.
Frequency
This project is part of an ongoing partnership with Winsley to develop their outdoor education spaces. Monkton pupils visit Winsley every couple of months.
We hope this partnership will continue in the coming months and years.
