Mock Interviews - Oxbridge, Medic & Vet Science
A morning of Mock Interviews for 25 local A Level students interested in Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science university application.
Educationalists with specialist knowledge/experience in one of the areas conducted a series of 40 min interviews, followed by 20 min detailed feedback for each attendee.
Aims
Identified need: Limited access to rigorous and/or specialised university interview practice and feedback before application stage.
Beneficiaries: A Level students interested in applying for entry to Oxbridge, Medic & Vet Science.
Critical factors: Exposure to specifics of interview stage for each of the courses/destinations, including detailed feedback from a third-party interviewer.
Background
Partnership schools identified the gap in the provision for pre-interview guidance and created the event, which will now be held annually.
Resources
The event was held on a Saturday morning at The King's School and involved three members of King's teaching staff, two support staff and four external interviewers.
Impact
Online follow-up survey results:
87% of beneficiaries said opportunity would otherwise not have been available to them.
94% of beneficiaries said they used advice/guidance given at the event in their subsequent interview.
100% would recommend the event to future A Level students .
