Minibus Charity Use - Young carers enjoy a day out

Rushmere Hall Primary School in Ipswich runs a Young
Carers group for pupils who have caring responsibilities at home, perhaps for a sibling with a disability or a parent who is ill. The group provides the children with an opportunity to talk about the issues they are facing, and to meet other children like them.

Some of the older members of the group were able to attend the Latitude Festival, having been offered free tickets, thanks to Ipswich School providing a minibus and driver.

Impact

Rushmere Hall’s Family Liaison Manager wrote afterwards:

“All the pupils attending had a wonderful day and were able to take part in activities they would never normally have the opportunity to try.

The day itself was a huge success in allowing
our children to build their confidence, experience a little independence and it bonded them as a group.
However, most importantly, it enabled them to
forget their caring roles and pressures for a day.
For our children, who have a lot of responsibility outside of school, this was
a wonderful day.”
