Mighty Orchestra

We invite local primary and prep school children as well as students from local secondary schools to come for a day of music making culminating in a concert with our full-scale school orchestra

Aims

To provide an opportunity for musically gifted children from small schools and schools with limited musical provision to experience being part of a large orchestral unit

Background

Our outstanding music department has strong ties with local music departments and is keen to extend the provision beyond the boundaries of Wellington into the community. Small schools do not have the opportunity to experience the "wall of sound" and exhilarating feel or rehearsing and playing with a large orchestra.

Impact

 Four schools came together to create an amazing wall of sound and enjoyed working in collaboration with other musicians. Pupils joined our own orchestra, took part in rehearsals all day and performed Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond and Star Wars themes to a packed audience - it was a wonderful day and super to welcome so many talented musicians
