Midsummer Night’s Dream Matinee event
We invited Year 6 pupils from a range of local state primary schools to attend the matinee of our upper school play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Our pupils were delighted to have such an enthusiastic and attentive audience and it was great to be able to have an opportunity for pupils and staff alike to meet new people and share their reflections on the performance!
Aims
To provide a willing audience for the Year 11-13 performers.
To provide an opportunity for primary school pupils to watch a Shakespeare play.
Background
We built on the partnerships we had through our music department to invite schools to this event.
Resources
We used our school minibuses and catering facilities.
Impact
It was a great way to further establish our links with these schools and to introduce children to the work of Shakespeare.
Pupil Involvement
Year 6 + Year 11-13, mixed gender, approx 200 pupils involved.
Frequency
Single event but we hope to repeat for future productions and the primary schools are keen.
