Microfinance Initiative
Lendwithcare is a revolutionary way to help some of the world’s poorest people work their way out of poverty with dignity. Lendwithcare allows you to lend as little as £15 to fund a small business and once your money is repaid you can choose to recycle your loan to support another poor entrepreneur, or withdraw your money. Lendwithcare is currently working in ten countries.
Aims
The Lendwithcare initiative was set up in school in 2016 with the aim of helping those in LICs in the form of a small start-up loan to aid with entreprenurial endeavours. One of the main aims is to foster a globalised sense of social responsibility in the students. The students, after research, decide which groups to support. When the initial loans have been paid back, they are re-invested by the group.
Background
The programme was started by a member of the MFL department in 2016.
Resources
The initial financial contribution of £300 came from the school. That was a sufficent amount to operate for 20 months. Initial loans have been paid back to the group and they are currently investing in projects in Ecuador.
Pupil Involvement
The pupils that are involved in this project are pupils across the KS3 range.
Frequency
The society meets once every week for an hour and it is an ongoing project at school.
