Making the Prep Woods accessible for local nursery children
Offering use and accessibility to the STAHS Prep school woodland to local nursery for pre-school children.
Aims
The local nursery in Wheathampstead (Yellow Star) doesn't have access to woodland. As part of the EYFS Early Learning Goals, nursery-aged children are expected to develop understanding of the world around them and the environment. This assists with that.
Background
Mike Bryant (Head of Prep) offered it to Yellow Star's owner Maddie Thompson in order to develop stronger community links in the village.
Resources
Prep Woodland. No extra expense but staff needed to be aware of the nursery children visiting.
Impact
Stronger links with local community and greater opportunities for local children.
Frequency
Ongoing, around three to six times a year.
