Library event with local primary schools

To celebrate the opening of our new library we invited children from local primary schools to visit and to take part in Author and Illustrator events.

We welcomed Axel Sheffler, Elen Caldecott to lead workshops with  about 250 students from local primary schools as well as St Margaret's Preparatory School.

Aims

The aim of the events was to foster a love of reading and all things related to books. We hoped to inspire the young people and also provide them with an opportunity to come together to celebrate Books collectively after such a long period learning in isolation.

Background

We sent invites to local primary schools and those that we able to join us attended. 

Resources

Suitable venue and funding to cover the costs of key note speakers.

Impact

The participants and adults clearly enjoyed the sessions. 

Pupil Involvement

Years 5 and 6, both girls and boys.

Frequency

Multiple sessions  ran for 1 hour 15 and students. Sessions were run in accordance with Covid Guidelines at the time.
