KMT & King's STEM AI

The School is leading a partnership in the local Medway and Kent community which aligns with our on going activities to become a leading STEM centre and forming partnerships with local schools to benefit the community.

The partnership is between KMT (our teacher training provider) and the school's Digital Strategy office.

It involves King's providing guidance to trainee teachers in the KMT network on how to use AI to reduce their workload, assist with planning and teach their pupils to use it responsibly. More widely, the intention is for King's to provide CPD opportunities for staff in locally maintained schools on matters regarding digital teaching and learning. On their behalf, KMT will suggest schools in their network (currently 80 schools) turn to King's for advice and guidance on matters relating to digital teaching in the first instance.

The meeting with the KMT representative, Chris Gibbs, was very positive, and we think the partnership will soon benefit both parties.
Our next meeting will be in October 2024. We will involve more schools in a pilot project regarding new teacher and staff CPD for research-informed AI use.
