Kent College's Modern Foreign Language Cross-Curricular Day
The Modern Foreign Languages department at Kent College welcomed Year 5 students from King's Hill Primary School, Plaxtol Primary School, Lamberhurst Primary School, Russell House and St John's Primary for a cross-curricular language day.
Pupils took part in a number of lessons including Drama, Art, Chinese language and Chemistry but instead of learning in English, they learnt in French, German and Spanish.
Aims
The aim of the project was to give external primary school children the opportunity to use Kent College's facilities and enhance their curriculum using resources that would not be available in their own schools.
Background
The opportunity was identified by the Modern Foreign Languages department and having run the event before , it was thought to be beneficial to do so again.
Resources
Kent College's facilities are used on the day of the visit; Dining Hall, Science Laboratories, teaching classrooms, art classrooms and Drama studios.
Head of Modern Foreign Languages, and Kent College academic staff ran the sessions with assistance from other staff members and staff from the visiting schools.
Visiting children and staff were all provided with a lunchtime meal and refreshments throughout the day, this was free of charge.
Impact
It was a very successful day.

Frequency
This is an annual event, however due to the pandemic it has not run since 2018. However it will continue to be annual going forward.
