Kent College hosts Modern Foreign Languages Day
The Modern Foreign Languages department at Kent College welcomed Year 5 students from Pemury Primary School for a cross-curricular language day.
Pupils took part in a number of lessons including Art with Spanish, Chemistry with French, and Food Technology with Spanish before finishing with some France vs Spain races and relays.
Aims
The aim of the project was to give external primary school children the opportunity to use Kent College's facilities and enhance their curriculum using resources that would not be available in their own schools.
Background
The opportunity was identified by the Modern Foreign Languages department and having run the event before, it was thought to be beneficial to do so again.
Resources
Kent College's facilities are used on the day of the visit; Dining Hall, Science Laboratories, teaching classrooms and art classrooms.
Head of Modern Foreign Languages, and Kent College academic staff ran the sessions with assistance from other staff members and staff from the visiting school.
Visiting children and staff were all provided with refreshments throughout the day, this was free of charge.
Impact
It was a very successful day and the visiting school spoke very highly of their time here.
Pupil Involvement
The children were all Year 5, there was a combination of boys and girls. Approx 15 children from Kent College attended and 25 from Pembury Primary School.
