Hosting Charity Events
Alleyn's host multiple different charities at the school for various different events.
Some past events include:
Resources for Autism - Christmas Holiday Scheme
Resources for Autism offer specialist holiday play schemes for young people aged 8 – 19, wherever they are on the autistic spectrum. The charity was provided with a venue at our Burbage Road sports and social facility free of charge over three days to support their Christmas Holiday Scheme.
Southwark Police Cadets Christmas Tree Appeal
The Southwark Police Cadets host their annual Christmas Tree Appeal, at Alleyn's to ensure all children in foster care in Southwark receive a present at Christmas time. Alleyn's has supported with Southwark police for many years offering the theatre and technical staff for the evening for their Christmas present-giving event.
Link Age Southwark AGM and Volunteer Awards
Local charity Link Age Southwark hosted their AGM and volunteer awards at Alleyn's. A reception took place in the adjoining Atrium, before the AGM and awards in the theatre. All venues were hired free of charge. Alleyn's event staff helped plan the event with the charity coordinators, site visits and meetings before the event ensured the evening set up and event ran smoothly. Alleyn's event staff and techncial staff worked during the evening, helping where required. This is an ongoing partnership.
Solidarity Sports - Sports Day
Solidarity Sports is a charity that works with children living in the shadow of Grenfell Tower. Children from all backgrounds participate in the group's activities, particularly those who have fallen through the gaps and have experienced trauma. The Charity brought 30 children to Alleyn’s to use a range of facilities and held a sports day which was delivered with the assistance of Alleyn’s sports coaches. The day offered the children an opportunity to experience sports that many had not previously played.
Sisterhood UK - Theatre support for The Woman's Aid charity
The MCT at Alleyn's was hired out on a community basis to a local resident who organised an evening of entertainment to inspire and empower women in London and to raise awareness of The Woman's Aid charity whose 24-hour National Domestic Helpline and range of online services helps hundreds of thousands of women and children every year. Alleyn’s events and theatre staff spent their time co-ordinating all aspects of the hire in the lead up to, and throughout, the event. Ensuring all aspects of the concert ran to schedule and delivered to the highest possible standard, creating an enjoyable and relaxed environment for both the organisers and the audience on the evening.
Football Competitions and Trials for BiG Elite Team
Alleyn's Clubhouse football pitches were offered to a local community interest group in Southwark. The football pitches were used for an afternoon of competitions and trials for children aged between 11 and 13. The afternoon was available to all children in the Southwark borough on a pay-what-you-can basis. The winners from these trials and competitions got the chance to represent the BiG Elite team against AFC Wimbledon Academy. This exciting community event provided the opportunity for young people to participate in and grace the Champion Hill Stadium pitch and take part in a mascot programme where children were able to walk out on the pitch with some old and new stars and take part in half -time and post-match entertainments.
