Hockey Masterclass

8 students and WGS specialist sports staff delivered three days of hockey masterclasses at Aldersley Leisure centre for pupils in Years 1 to 6 from 25 local primary schools as part of the Wolverhampton School Games in June 2022.

Aims

The Wolverhampton Community Games involved schools across Wolverhampton and promoted a more active lifestyle, through sport, physical activity and culture, by giving pupils the chance to participate in sporting and cultural activities, and be part of the lasting legacy of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

WGS worked with the ConnectEd Schools Partnership to deliver Hockey masterclasses over 3 days using teaching staff and WGS students.

This benefited hundreds of primary school children from 25 local state schools.

Background

The partnership came about through WGS being one of 5 hubs delivering sport to local primaries as part of the Schools' Sports Partnership.

Resources

The partnership in this instance was delivered at Aldersley Leisure Centre, but other activities as part of the partnership have been hosted at School. 

8 students and the Director of Sport were involved in delivering the hockey masterclasses.
