Harris Primary Regular Outdoor Activities and Sports

Alleyn’s offers its large, top playing field and memorial garden each Tuesday morning on a weekly basis to this local school in order for it to be able to fulfill aspects of the curriculum which are otherwise difficult within the restraints of playground space on their site. The School also uses Alleyn's fields and athletics track for their summer sports day.

Background

This local School which opened in September 2016, only has a small outside area with no dedicated green space for outdoor activities.

Alleyn’s staff  have coordinated the project with the Headteacher at Harris Primary Academy East Dulwich. Alleyn’s has ensured the fields are available to them on a regular basis enabling this to become a consistent activity within their school timetable.

Resources

The areas available to Harris Primary Academy within the fields include tarmac netball courts, a shale running track and Alleyn’s memorial garden.

There was no charge to Harris Primary for the use of Alleyn's facilities.

Pupil Involvement

The academy started with a Reception cohort and currently has children in year groups from Reception to Year 2 and will continue to grow year by a year, one group at a time. Alleyn’s looks to continue its support as the pupils numbers increase over the next few years.

Frequency

Alleyn's would like to continue to develop this ongoing partnership with Harris Primary Academy. Alleyn's is currently working closely with Harris staff, discussing the availability of other Alleyn's facilities which may benefit the pupils at the local school.
