Happy Space Wellbeing Course

Through Happy Space, a mental health charity, Frensham Heights have set up a six-week wellbeing course during the summer term with 3 local schools.

Aims

The aim is to use our relationship with Happy Space to provide much-needed post-pandemic well-being help to our students and those in our local primary schools.

The need for this project was identified through the growing student well-being concerns post-pandemic.

The critical factor for success is the continual liaison between Frensham Heights, Happy Space and the local primary school staff to ensure all parties are fully prepared for the sessions.

The immediate beneficiaries are our students and those students in the local primary schools involved.

Background

This project developed from our continued work with Happy Space (a well-being charity set up by former Frensham Heights students) and their desire to assist in a pilot study for their well-being resources.

The opportunity was identified by Tegan Creedy, COO of Happy Space, and Lynn Goodburne, our Head of Outreach and Community Engagement.

It has been running for one term so far.

Resources

The most important resources are the Happy Space resources and staff in each school. This project does not use the Frensham Heights facilities.

Teaching staff are involved - one staff member for several hours. There is a financial contribution to purchase the Happy Space resources for all the students.

Impact

There will be a qualitative assessment to ascertain the benefit of the workshops.

The anticipated outcome is to see that the level of engagement with the resources are high and that teachers see an improvement in student happiness and well-being.

Pupil Involvement

Years 5 & 6 students from Frensham and other schools will be involved in the sessions. All genders are included.

Frequency

This will be a single event which occurs as a summer term pilot.
