Grenfell FC & King's House Partnership

Grenfell FC was founded in 2017 in the wake of the Grenfell fire tragedy, and since then the club has trained and played weekly fixtures at King’s House School Sports Ground. In November 2023, the Common Ground pitch at KHSG was launched in partnership with Cadbury FC. Common Ground will be a home at KHSG for Grenfell’s men’s and women’s teams, facilitated by 14 of Cadbury’s partner clubs.

To provide a community space and support those affected by the Grenfell tragedy. 

Background

Grenfell Athletic FC was founded in the wake of the Grenfell fire tragedy in 2017, aiming to unite the community, and has grown in the years since to include men’s and women’s teams. The team train and play their weekly fixtures at King’s House School Sports Ground, with free pitch hire.

Cadbury FC, together with their club partners, are providing a home pitch at King’s House Sports Ground for the team - their Common Ground, where the wider community can come together through football. The pitch launched at a charity match in November 2023.

Resources

Cadbury FC supported the Common Ground pitch and resources through their club partners, including kit, training equipment and dugouts. 

Staff time provided by the school includes operational assistance from the Enterprises Manager, and King’s House groundsmen. 

Grenfell FC have free pitch hire for their fixtures at King’s House Sports Ground.

Impact

Common Ground has provided a long term home space for Grenfell FC, with the resources and equipment to continue growing the community and supporting each other.

Ongoing weekly training and fixtures. 

The Common Ground pitch at King’s House Sports Ground officially opened in November 2023 with the inaugural Grenfell Athletic FC vs Cadbury FC match. This pitch will continue with ongoing support from King’s House and Cadbury.
