Girls on Track

This partnership event is about encouraging female student involvement in STEM and motorsports (especially in terms of future study and employment)

The project involves 100 students from the local area attending Monkton to engage with 5 activities delivered by a pro racing team designed to provide unique experiences.

Aims

Encouraging female student involvement in STEM and motorsports

The needs identified included access to specialist STEM equipment and experiences. Encouraging more girls into STEM / motorsports.

Background

Identified by a parent who was a supporter of the charity Girls on Track.

Partnership was established in January 2020.

Resources

Staff, equipment, multiple venues and catering. Also accommodation for the charity workers.

Initially this is a one-day event planned and hosted here at Monkton. We hope that it will then turn into a rolling annual event. The original day for this event had to be cancelled due to Covid, but has now been rearranged for 5th October and take-up has been excellent.

Impact

10 pupils from across 10 different schools will benefit from this experience. An exit survey has been designed so that impact can be captured.

Pupil Involvement

Prep and primary aged girls from across a wide range of schools will take part.

Frequency

Annual event is planned.
