Fusilier Museum Partnership

Bury Grammar School has established a cultural and educational partnership with the Fusilier Museum in Bury.

Bury Grammar School sixth form students volunteer at the museum on a Wednesday afternoon working in a variety of roles.

Pupils from the school have also undertaken work experience placements at the museum.

The school has also created a primary school art competition which is run in conjunction with the museum called Bury Remembers.

It is aim to promote a deeper understanding of the reasons for Remembrance Day and the sacrifices made by members of the local community.

Aims

The aims of the partnership are to strengthen the links with the Fusilier Museum in order to create volunteering opportunities for pupils from BGS and to promote the museum's educational activities in the wider Bury Community.

Background

The school has links with the Army and the Fusiliers through its long standing combined cadet force contingent.

The partnership was established in June 2023 and has grown steadily since. 

Resources

This is an ongoing project that requires minimal financial resources but is sustained through the enthusiasm and energy of the coordinators in the school and in the museum.
