Fundraising for Refugees: The Big House Read
In the face of appalling tragedy whereby people have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, natural disasters or fear of persecution, we want to do something positive. We are reading for good. Schools and individuals across the UK, supported by the School Library Association (SLA) are reading as if their lives depend on it (because lives do depend on it) to raise money for refugees worldwide.
Organised by our inspirational librarian, Helen Cleaves, our pupils have been doing sponsored reads to raise money for charity UKHCR who protect refugees worldwide by providing life-saving emergency assistance. Our pupils were representing their houses whilst "competing".
At Ibstock we have raised £2293!
We are also proud that two of our pupils hand painted a design to be used nationwide for the posters.
