Fun with Languages

Pupils from local primary schools take part in a carousel of language activities, for example, Chinese New Year, introduction to Spanish, language codes, Russian culture and language. In 2018 six local primary schools took part: Long Furlong, Carswell, Thameside, Caldecott, Sunningwell and Marcham.

Aims

To enhance primary school pupils’ exposure to a variety of foreign languages.

Background

The project was launched in 2016 and is run in conjunction with the Abingdon School’s Languages department.

Resources

Classrooms, language teachers, sixth formers, refreshments.

Impact

Very positive feedback from participants with descriptions and photographs on the primary schools’ websites.

Sixth formers at Abingdon. Year 5 and 6 pupils in primary schools.
