Fort Royal Community School Garden Party

Fort Royal Community Primary School is a primary school local to The King's School Worcester. The School is a broad spectrum school which caters for pupils aged 2-11 with a Special Education Need.

The Fort Royal Community Primary School together with King's School Worcester have worked together for a number of years to provide an annual garden party in the Summer Term for the pupils of Fort Royal Community Primary School.

The whole of the Lower Sixth from King's School Worcester is involved in organising a fun and inclusive day for the children. Fort Royal Community Primary School has circa 240 pupils who benefit form a range of different activities being put on by the pupils from King's.

Aims

Organised by the King's School Worcester Sixth Form Charity Committee the aim of this initiative is to give something back to the local community, providing the children of the local primary school with a summer party to remember.

The identified need surrounded the need to support a local primary school by providing something fun for the children.

The Sixth Form charity committee organises various events to give back to the local community, critical to the success of this garden party event is organisation and logistical skills. To ensure that the children benefit from a fun day with a range of activities on offer.

The immediate beneficiaries of this initiative are the children of Fort Royal Community Primary School. 

Background

This initiative arose from discussions held between the Head Teacher of Fort Royal Community Primary School and the Head of the Sixth Form Charity Committee at the King's School Worcester.

The partnership has now been running for over 5 years with no evidence to suggest that it may cease.

Resources

The resources that are critical to the success of this particular partnership lie with the entire Lower Sixth pupils of King's School Worcester giving their time and commitment to support a local school.

The project does utilise the King's School Worcester facilities as well as teaching staff resource. Up to 5 staff support on the afternoon of the event and various members of staff support the planning of the event.

Pupil Involvement

This event is organised by the Lower Sixth pupils of King's which includes circa 120 pupils including boys and girls aged 16 and 17 years of age.

Frequency

This is an annual event which has been running for in excess of five years with no plans to stop at present.
