Fleetwood in Bloom
Working as part of the Fleetwood in Bloom initiative, Rossall was proud to take part in the scheme to improve our local environment. Drawing on the theme of the town's marine heritage, the school helped to create a floral boat and anchor on Westway in the town.
Aims
In Bloom is a great big display of community pride, involvement and achievement. It is a great way to get involved in looking after where you live and work. In Bloom gets you involved with your neighbours and re-connect with existing friends. It gives sense of achievement to create an attractive town to stand back and admire. It really is an effort by the whole community. It is for lone individuals who love where they live, and businesses who want to help the town to thrive. Everyone can contribute something, all you have to do is get involved.
Background
The contribution to Fleetwood in Bloom started in the 2018-2019 school year. The boat on Westway is next to the school and we felt that we could contribute a design to remeber the town's heritage.
Resources
The project started with a fundraising phase to purchase the necessary plants. The planting was then done under the supervision of teaching staff.
Pupil Involvement
The pupils involved were 6th Form students as they took ownership of the initiative from idea to completion.
Frequency
This event will now be a yearly event for the school, changing to fit in with the In Bloom changes in theme.
