Enterprise Event with Local Primary Schools
On 17th June, 166 Year 6 children from Dormansland Primary, Felbridge Primary, Lingfield Primary and Lingfield Prep all gathered at the Lingfield Marriott hotel to work on Start-up Sherpa, an enterprise event that is usually carried out in the Prep School but we have opened it to our local schools. The session kicked off with a powerful message from a TED talk by a child prodigy Adora Svitak who says the world needs "childish" thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. The students work in small groups to identify problems and possible solutions in one of the following areas: Loneliness, Environment, School, Food, Social Media or Fast Fashion. Following their introduction, the students go back to their respective schools and work on the ideation, service or product and then pitch it to their own school. The top two from Felbridge and Dormansland, and top three from Lingfield Primary and Prep go through to a “Dragon’s Den” type final on 2nd July in our Prep Assembly Hall to see who is crowned the best Start up Sherpa.
