Elms Bank Special School Art Workshop
Bury Grammar School supported the learning of Year 10 artists from the Elms Bank Special School in the use of clay modelling.
Aims
The aim of the partnership to give access to pupils from the Elms Bank Special School to the BGS workshops and kiln to allow them to experience media that they cannot use in their own school.
Background
The partnership came about through a member of the art department who had previously worked at Elms Bank School.
Resources
The Elms Bank pupils use BGS facilities and the sessions are led by BGS staff.
It involves a day of different activities culminating in the production of clay animals which are fired in the kiln and delivered to Elms Bank at later date.
Pupil Involvement
The pupils involved are Year 10 from Elms Bank and 6th form volunteers from BGS.
Frequency
This is a single day event that continues on an annual rotation.
