Eco Reading and Learning Partnership

The Putney High Library team have been awarded funds from the HSBC & GDST Partnership Funding to run an Eco Reading and Learning project with Oasis Putney Academy, a local primary school.

The project will run throughout the academic year with students from the two schools learning together and from each other about climate action and sustainability.

Aims

Over the past term, we have used some of the funds to stock the Oasis school library with books on the topic.

We launched the flagship programme in December 2023, The Eco Reading Challenge, a reading scheme where the primary school students are challenged to read a set number of books from their library’s new eco-collection. 

Background

The Putney High School Librarian identified the opportunity and has put it in place for the academic year 2023/2024 but we hope it will continue into the future.
