Drama Outreach sessions
The most recent addition to our provision has been the setting up of partnerships within local primary schools. We carried out research and discovered a real demand for after school clubs and child care within our community.
We offer an onsite drama club, where one of our teachers visits the school each week to deliver a drama club. This took off quickly and we are now up and running with three clubs and two further schools set to join in the Summer Term. (38 children so far) All these children will be invited to perform on our Great Hall stage together in a fabulous summer showcase, utilising all our lighting and tech resources for a true “West End” experience.
3 local primary schools with 38 children currently attending our drama outreach sessions.
Aims
To extend our excellent drama provision beyond the gates of the school and offer performing arts opportunities to children from local primary schools where such chances do not already exist.
Background
Our drama teachers run partnership drama clubs in local primary schools. They go into the schools to inspire and enthuse young pupils weekly throughout the year and all the children from the different schools then join us for an exciting showcase at the end of the year using our theatre and technical facilities.
Resources
Our own drama staff travel to the local primary schools to deliver weekly sessions.
Impact
3 local primary schools with 38 children currently attending our drama outreach sessions. One other school to be included shortly
Pupil Involvement
Primary school children Year 4-6. These are all from local primary schools not the independent sector
Frequency
Each school has a weekly visit from our drama teacher. At the end of the year, they will all come together to perform a show using our resources, theatre, tech team etc to an auduence.
