Drama Club
A weekly Drama Club run at Caterham by 6th Form students for Year 5s and 6s from St John's Primary. Each cycle culminates in a performance for parents and teachers.
Aims
To develop expression, self confidence and other skills related to drama for St John's Year 5 and 6 pupils.
To develop Caterham students leadership and creativity.
Background
The partnership was established by Caterham Drama department and teachers at St John's. The project is now in its fifth year with two cycles per year. We are very pleased to be able to have reestablished this group following the break for COVID.
Resources
The sessions are held at Caterham School with Caterham and St John's teachers in support for every session. St John’s staff help with transport when necessary.
Impact
ImpactEd impact tools are being used to assess the potential impact on participants' mindset, confidence and approach to learning of pupils of both schools.
St John’s Teacher— 'The confidence of a number of them has significantly improved. This is evident in the sessions and around the school at St John's.'
ImpactEd recorded increases in teamworking and extraversion, and an increase in openness of 14%.
