Dormansland Primary and Lingfield College

We are delighted to have partnered with Dormansland Primary to share resources, facilities and best practice.

This is on a number of levels. 

. Dormansland reception came to use Lingfield College's forest school. LC staff took charge of the fire and made popcorn. DP staff ran the mud kitchen, swing, den and 'finding animals'. 

· Hockey coaching has commenced, with our Director of Sport attending every Friday for a couple of hours. 

· Over 200 books have been donated to Dormansland by the Prep School. 

· Links are in progress between the Science Lead at DP and our Science Lead in Prep.

· Head of DP has met with our Pastoral Lead and the School Counsellor to discuss children’s mental health and wellbeing and have identified areas to share best practice including Trauma training.

· Dormansland are hosting their end of year Show in our auditorium on 13th July with some of our students helping out with lighting sound etc.

· Anti bullying ambassadors from year 11, Niamh and Mollie have met Dormansland Junior Leadership students to discuss experiences and share good ideas.

· Member of our staff has joined the Governing body of Dormansland. 

· Dormansland parents were invited to a talk on Children's Mental Health, by one of our parents, on 10th February are invited to a talk with from an outside speaker on 28th March (Body confidence in children from Lizi Jackson Barrett 

We meet regularly and are looking forward to developing and expanding this partnership

. Emotional wellbeing dog Bourbon from Dormansland visited Lingfield College Senior with owner and head of Dormansland. Spent time with SEN children and we discussed the possibility of training our own dog for Lingfield 

Aims

To foster good relations between local schools and Lingfield college, to share best practice, resources and facilities and to have a genuine two way partnership for mutual benefit. 

The benefits are huge, for the leadership teams, for the staff and above all else, and most importantly, for the students.  

Background

Lingfield College approached the Head of Dormansland primary, there had been a relationship prior to Covid but it had dwindled. 

 

Resources

The resources are widespread from teacher and support staff time, to sharing facilities, and creating opportunities to meet and share best practice.

Impact

. Hockey coaching impact can be measured on: 

- Improvement in hockey skills 

- Uptake in sport at Dormansland 

- Science Lead: 

- Possible surveys on children's enjoyment on using our facilities, if this happens 

- Feedback from both science leads on new things learned: teaching practices etc

 

. Head of DP meeting with Pastoral lead and school counsellor 

- Survey's on staffs ability and comfortability to deal with children's mental health 

 

. Dormansland end of year Show in our auditorium on 13th July 

- Feedback on the enjoyment and improvement of the experience with students, staff and parents of Dormansland in comparison to their usual EOY show. 

- Speak to our drama students about the process, what went well, what could go better, improvements for next time 

 

. Anti bullying ambassadors meeting 

- Keep track of the number of bullying incidents in Dormansland - hopefully see a decrease 

 

. Member of staff joining the governing body of Dormansland 

- Ask Dormansland for a report as to our governors progress and impact as part of the body 

- Speak to our staff member about anything we can implement in our own governing body 

 

. Sharing talks from guest speakers 

- Keep track of the number of parents, staff and students from Dormansland attending our talks and see if the number rises to a consistent peak 

- Ask those attending if they found the talk beneficial or not 

 

. Bourbon, wellbeing dog 

- Looking to train our own wellbeing dog. The impact of our own dog can be measured on student morale and attendance 

 

. Subject specific workshops 

- Ask children to rate whether the workshop was a positive or negative experience for them 

- Have students write down something they enjoyed and something they learned from each workshop 

 

Frequency

This is an ongoing partnership with another school. Both parties are expecting this to grow, adapt and flourish over time.
