Department networking/Sharing of good practice CPD
Following the successful pilot of subject networking in Drama with CoLA Shoreditch Park, where a range of opportunities were created for pupils and teachers to share best practice (including acting as a virtual audience and contributing to remote performances), the following departments offered to host similar sessions with a KS5 focus:
- History
- Politics
- Maths
- PE
- Music
- Art
- RPE
Options for Collaboration:
- Half-termly subject networking opportunities to include A/A* teaching materials, exemplar materials, moderation experience, extension at different grade boundaries
- Initial subject networking available in History, Politics, Maths, PE, Music, Art, RPE
- Enrichment classes for Sixth form students can be offered in a range of subjects via Teams;
Aims
- To collaborate and learn from Sixth form practitioners across the Family of Schools to develop Sixth Form teaching and learning;
- To upskill teachers in the delivery of the Key Stage 5 curriculum, generating opportunities for reflection and peer discussion;
- Moderation and A/A* teaching methods to form a central focus;
- To create meaningful links between Key Stage 5 practitioners and sustainable opportunities for future development of teachers including the potential for non-judgemental observation
- Development opportunities will be jointly led where possible to maximise the sharing of expertise;
- All contexts have significant amounts to learn from one another;
- A focus on Key Stage 5 pedagogy rather than individual exam board requirement will underpin the planning and delivery of sessions;
- Sharing best practice and an ongoing commitment to teacher development serve the needs and expectations of students at Key Stage 5;
- There is the potential to grow the joint provision from a small-scale collaboration to a more significant unified approach over time
