Dean Close Staff support Cheltenham Pharmacy deliveries
During the current Covid-19 outbreak, 15 staff from the Dean Close Foundation have volunteered to be delivery people for the Gloucestershire NHS Trust pharmacies inn Cheltenham. A rota has been set up by which one person of the team each day delivers medication to vulnerable people for one of the Cheltenham pharmacies.
Aims
To support local pharmacies to deliver medication to vulnerable people required to remain at home. This requires willing volunteers and the beneficiaries are all those vulnerable people who receive their medication on time.
Background
One of the Dean Close staff has a friend coordinating pharmacies across Cheltenham for the Gloucestershire NHS Trust, who requested help. This began on April 6th 2020 and will con tinue for as long as the pharmacy requires it.
Resources
The resource required is the willing help of volunteering staff. Each delivery day takes between 1 and 4 hours, depending on the number and location of vulnerable people. It rfequires the volunteers to provide their own transport free of charge
Impact
The impact is clearly demonstrated by the gratitude of those to whom the deliveries are made. Quantitive assessment is possible through the number of these undertaken.
Pupil Involvement
No pupil sare involved because schools are currently closed through government guidance.
Frequency
This is a daily event for as long as it will be required.
