Dance Group Performance at Great Ormond Street Fundraiser

IPS’s School of Dance was asked to perform a 15 minute version of The Nutcracker ballet as part of major fundraising event on behalf of a new Sight and Sound Centre for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

On Tuesday, 30 pupils arrived by coach at the festively lit entrance of the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge. The weeks of practice and preparation were at an end and the audience, (including many guest celebrities) arrived with high expectations of an exciting evening of ballet and goodies to be auctioned by Charlie Ross to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.

The audience laughed, cheered and several audience members asked if pupils were from the Royal Ballet or English National Ballet, despite many of them only being 7 years old! At the ballet’s finale, each of the cast turned a large candy cane lollipop that spelt out on its reverse side, ‘Great Ormond Street Hospital’ with handfuls of glitter being thrown. How very happy the young dancers made the audience feel and how well each pupil had danced. We shall report when we know how much money was raised but we wish to say some special thanks for making the event possible.
