Cross-Curricular Language Day with local schools

The Head of Modern Foreign Languages at Kent College welcomed Year 5 students from Horsmonden Primary, Langton Green Primary, Lamberhurst Primary and St James Primary for a cross-curricular language day. 

Aims

The aim of the project was to give external primary school children the opportunity to use Kent College's facilities and enhance their curriculum using resources that would not be available in their own school. 

Background

The opportunity was identified by the Modern Foreign Languages department. 

Resources

Kent College's facilities are use on the day of the visit; Science Laboratories, teaching classrooms, art classrooms, The Countess of Wessex Theatre and the Food Technology kitchens. Head of Modern Foreign Languages, and Kent College academic staff ran the sessions with assistance from teaching assistants and parents from the visiting schools.  Visiting children and staff were all provided with a lunchtime meal and refreshments throughout the day, this was free of charge. 

Impact

It was a very enjoyable experience all round.

46 Year 5 boys and girls across the various schools.

Frequency

This is an annual event.
