Cressex Summer School
Wycombe Abbey is proud to host a group of selected Year 9 pupils from Cressex Community School every July, and we have run this programme for many years. This year, however, we decided to move this event to Wycombe Abbey’s final week of term in late June. This has had numerous benefits, especially the fact that our school is fully operational, and thus the school feels much more alive to the incoming pupils! The Cressex Y 9s had a varied programme, from Chemistry experiments, a drama workshop, to nature walks, touch rugby and tennis. We were able to welcome a group of Year 11 volunteers, who were invaluable in helping to staff the events; on the final afternoon, the Year 11s had a mentoring session with a small group of Cressex pupils/mentees, where they were able to offer some advice and guidance on their upcoming GCSE courses. We are very grateful to Mrs Bhandal and Mrs Young from Cressex who accompanied the pupils on the two-day programme, to all the Wycombe Abbey teachers who ran sessions, and to our excellent UV helpers. We look forward to this programme running again in June 2025!
