Creative Thinking Action Research

The School participated in the pilot phase of this national project and enjoys ongoing membership of this research group. The working group comprises staff from all phases of the Foundation, from primary through to secondary teaching. The findings contribute to development of skills teaching and assessment for English schools and in a broader sense are connected to PISA testing for creativity and character education.

Resources

Staff time within the school day/cost of staff time, expertise and staffs’ own time is required to participate in twilight project meetings and in-house development sessions. Phasing of staff participation has allowed growth of considerable in-house expertise and the introduction of peer-to-peer mentoring as a result.

Impact

Resulting action research projects include case studies on teaching and assessing creativity History, English, Science, Oracy, Art and Design, ICT and ECA.

Findings are included in case-studies, field guides and articles variously produced by Re-thinking Assessment, ACER, the Centre for Real World Learning at the University of Winchester and Professor Bill Lucas for ACE’s Creativity Exchange. School staff have also produced articles for Creativity Exchange.
