CosmicCon

Three schools undertook a project entitled Magnetospheric Undulations Sonified Incorporating Citizen Scientists (MUSICS). Our students led a team of researchers from Reach Academy, Grey Court, and Logic Studio in a study of space weather.

The data was collected by the GOES satellites and distributed by Queen Mary University of London. Apart from the challenge of such a collaborative endeavor, the team had to learn how to use new software, interpret unusual data, understand advanced physical principles and present novel findings at CosmicCon 2020. This online conference was attended by academic experts, teachers and students from all over the country. Our presentation was first to be delivered, and framed solo cross examinations in the break out groups. A nerve wracking experience for all, but our researchers came through with the confidence and professionalism that we have all to come to expect.
