Community Projects

Sessions with Bluebird Care

The girls in the Pre-Prep (aged 4-7) have sessions with the elderly ladies at Bluebird care, reading with them and playing board games. This enhances a sense of community, provides children with a sense of responsibility and helps to tackle social isolation

We wanted our students to engage with different generations. The project was initiated by the Head of Junior School and has been running for around a year. We provide the venue and staff to oversee the sessions. This community work has been a great accomplishment as our pupils have successfully built cross generational relationships and a sense of being part of a broader community.

Harvest Festival Collection for St Petrock’s

The Maynard School has a harvest festival collection which we donate to the charity to support for the local community. A food collection and monetary donation is set up in the school. This is an ongoing and yearly event.

Exeter Live Better

The aim of the Exeter Live Better project is to increase awareness about Exeter as a whole to attract inward investment and new, high salaried jobs from many leading companies around the world.

The main aims of Exeter Live Better are:

Use the strengths of the city to pull together with a collective narrative to achieve what wouldn’t be possible alone

Civic pride

Enhanced reputation on a national and international level

Ability to lobby government for more control for our citizens

More business start-ups

A competitive advantage for recruitment

More established businesses/institutions – and young professionals and entrepreneurs - considering Exeter as a primary relocation option

Increase in retail visitors and tourism

Targeted growth in key areas for the city

We were approached by the people spearheading the project to be a part of it. We help market the scheme where possible and help promote Exeter as an attractive place to live, study and work. Promoting Exeter is good for us as a school as it will attract more people to relocate to the city.
