Community Netball and Football Tournament
Frensham Heights Sixth Form sports leaders planned and ran a Netball and Football tournament for 4 local primary schools.
Aims
The aim of this project was to provide sporting opportunities for our students and those from local primary schools whilst providing leadership opportunities for our older students. It was identified that local primary schools could benefit from further sporting provision.
The critical factors were our facilities and equipment and our Sixth Form sports leaders' time and commitment.
The immediate beneficiaries were our students and those students from the local primary schools.
Background
This project developed from our Sixth Form sports leaders wanting to create an opportunity for local students.
The teacher in charge of the sports leaders course identified the opportunity to create this tournament. It took two months to develop prior to the day.
Resources
The main resources used were the Frensham Heights facilities, equipment and staff expertise. Our sporting facilities and equipment were used to host the tournament.
Teaching staff were involved - one teacher for one hour a week over two academic terms.
There was a small financial contribution towards food and trophies.
Impact
No formal assessment was made.
Pupil Involvement
Year 6 students from our school and other schools were involved plus Sixth Form sports leaders. All genders were included.
Frequency
This was a single event.
