Community Enrichment Day
Caterham Sixth formers run an enrichment day for 150+ Year 5 pupils.
Aims
To develop Caterham Sixth Form skills, planning and delivering sessions.
To provide an enriching experience for primary pupils, academic sessions in the morning and experience of live performance with the HORRIBLE HISTORIES show in the afternoon.
Background
The community day is now in its fifth year and is an opportunity to invite schools that are not involved in other ESLP activities with a view to building relationships
Resources
Caterham School provide transport and the teaching/sports facilities for the day. Primary schools provide the pupils and teacher/TA support.
Caterham staff planned and delivered (with the L6) in geography, history, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, DT, IT, drama and Philosophy.
Impact
The day involved 150 year 5 pupils and 40 Caterham Lower 6th in the delivery of the activities. Primary Pupil 1 'My favourite memory was making animations with Lego because I love Lego, computers and animations.'
Primary Pupil 2 'I enjoyed solving the Maths codes to open the safe and get the candy. I particularly liked the Biology and mixing different chemicals with biscuits and finding out about nutrition.'
