The annual Community Action Day where all members of the College; pupils and staff, help with community work, both near and further afield. Our staff and pupils were working in over 40 locations across West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey.
Aims
A day where all members of the College; pupils and staff, help with community work, both near and further afield. Our staff and pupils were working in over 40 locations across West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey.
Background
Just over 7 years ago, the Headmaster wanted to have our school community give something back to our local community hence the Community Action Day was created. Our entire school community is out doing good works in a variety of areas across three counties, at a mulitude of venues doing a vast variety of works.
Resources
The school makes connections with organisation, scopes out the work to be done, completes the risk assessments, supplies the man power and equipment to complete the job. Staff and student work alongside each other. It is a full day the Wednesday before the end of the summer term.
Impact
Year over year the number of venues and projects have increased as well as building up relationships year upon year. Some the projects lead into regular visits by the school through out the year such as Petworth Cottage Hospital and Pendean.
Pupil Involvement
All pupils are invovled in the school from Year 2-13 with over 800 pupils on roll.
Frequency
Community Action Day is annually on the last Wednesday of the Summer Term and will continue for the foreable future.
