Collection for Farnham Help for Refugees
Frensham Heights students and staff, and the wider school community, supported Farnham Help for Refugees by collecting, sorting and delivering much needed essentials and supplies.
Aims
The aim was to provide much-needed supplies for those less fortunate than ourselves by supporting the work of Farnham Help for Refugees. The charity urgently needed both supplies and volunteers.
The critical factors for the success of the project were the students, parents and teachers engaged in donating and sorting supplies.
The immediate beneficiaries were the refugees and the students and adults who volunteered their time.
Background
The project developed from Frensham Heights' continued relationship with Farnham Help for Refugees and was specifically identified by Lynn Goodburne, the Head of Outreach and Community Engagement.
Resources
The most valuable resources were the students', teachers' and parents' generosity and time.
In terms of facilities, the project used the school van and the temporary use of rooms for sorting and storage.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff were involved for several hours. There was no direct financial contribution.
Impact
The project had no formal assessment.
Pupil Involvement
The students who volunteered were involved in collecting, sorting and delivering supplies. Their ages range from 11 to 18 years old and all genders are included.
