Classics Drama Workshop

A workshop led by Splendid Workshop with Y8 participants from St George's Ascot and Charter's School

Aims

The aim of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for mixed-gender, pupil-premium children from our local state school to join in with a drama workshop. The beneficiaries were all pupils involved as they worked together to produce a creative piece.

Background

The activity came about following discussions between the two schools. This is the second year the event has taken place.

Resources

Teaching staff were needed to supervise the pupils and the event took place in St George's theatre. There were 30 participants from each school and the visiting company was fully funded by St George's. The morning was split into two allowing for 30 pupils per 1-hour session.

Impact

Pupils provided verbal feedback on the day saying the session had been excellent. The visiting teacher commented on how her pupils responded positively to the challenge and one child in particular who is usually very withdrawn fully participated.
