Busy Parents Network BookFest

Bournville BookFest will welcome families to 150 storytelling events over 10 days, at different venues across Birmingham.

From Aardman model-making to stories with penalty shoot-outs; campfire tales and toddler drama; and Dr Who writing workshops; real animal stories and hilarious live drawing events; Bournville BookFest has something for everyone. Meet author-illustrator Nick Sharratt, What the Ladybird Heard illustrator Lydia Monks, Ella Bella Ballerina author James Mayhew and author Catherine Doyle of the best-selling The Stormkeeper's Island. BookFest is a fantastic opportunity to experience something new - performance poetry, paper engineering or even opera.

Our brilliant Schools Programme brings some of Britain's best-loved authors and illustrators to large audiences of school children at Town Hall Birmingham - including Dame Jacqueline Wilson and author-illustrator Nick Sharratt; prolific children’s author, poet and former Children's Laureate Michael Rosen; Chris Riddell; and Kes Gray.

EHS will host a session on Wednesday March 20th 2019.

Aims

Busy Parents Network approached EHS in 2018 to be a host and sponsor, we have continued this link in 2019. 

Resources

EHS offer all the event management, facilities and resouces free of charge during the EHS BookFest event.

Impact

Successful event, pupil enjoyment and repeat event next year.

Pupil Involvement

The EHS BookFest 2019 event will involve over 400 pupils, boys and girls from across Birmingham. Pupils will be from independent and local state schools.

Frequency

After the success of the 2018 event, EHS were approaced again and will host in 2019. We hope to continue the involvement in 2020.
