Bolton Learning Partnership - Art Hub Lead

Miss J Fazackerley (Head of Art, Design and Technology, Bolton School Girls’ Division) was invited to be Hub Lead for Art as part of the Bolton Learning Partnership (BLP) in September 2018. The BLP works with Bolton Council and the Bolton Learning Alliance with an executive lead of Mr Tony Purcell. It has a growing membership of 25+ schools. Her role is to support Art teachers in all the member schools and plan and deliver training.

Aims

Its aims are to develop leadership, share best T&L practice and meet the needs of individual schools in need of support or intervention.

‘Stakeholders’ are committed financially as well as through partnership, allowing for funding to be available where necessary. Every member school benefits through 15 discreet subject groups  - providing useful resource information, increased accessibility and training.

Background

BLP was developed through Bolton Learning Alliance, Bolton Council, Supporting School Improvement Board (SSIB) by Tony Purcell.

Resources

Member schools all contribute a small amount of funding (Bolton School Boys' and Girls' Divisions both contribute). Funding is then available for initiatives in schools.

Teaching staff (Hub Leads) in schools lead subject hub meetings and deliver training/meetings 3 times per year.

Impact is assessed by executive lead through development planning and reporting of feedback at Hub Lead meetings 3 times per year. Analysis of examination results and progress is scrutinised annually to assess impact on T&L.
