Bessemer Grange Intensive Swimming Lessons

Bessemer Grange Primary School in Herne Hill returned to Alleyn’s for a week of intensive swimming lessons for their pupils.

Aims

The classes aimed to increase pupils' swimming ability by providing professional swimming tuition for over 90 students.

Resources

The local School hired the pool for three hours each morning over five days.

Three swimming teachers and one lifeguard were assigned to each session. Staff were charged at cost price, ensuring a minimal cost to the School. The swimming pool was hired free of charge.

Impact

The teachers noted a vast improvement in the swimming ability of the children by the end of the week.

In a letter to the Headmaster, Community Governor of Bessemer Grange expressed her thanks; 

"The improvements were very visable when I returned at the end of the second week. I was so impressed with all the teachers and the life guard involved and the confidence given to every level of ability"

Frequency

Bessemer Grange will return to Alleyn's for intensive swimming lessons in future years.
