Berkshire Women's Aid - advent boxes

This partnership provides Berkshire Women's Aid with toiletries and cosmetics in the form of Advent Calendars as a treat for Christmas.

Aims

The aim of this partnership is to recycle Beauty Advent Calendars by adding new cosmetics and toiletries. Empty beauty advent calendars and toiletries/cosmetics are donated by the local community. These are refilled by RBCS pupils who carefully select appropriate items and gift wrap the boxes. The boxes are delivered to Berkshire Women's Aid (https://www.berkshirewomensaid.org.uk/) a domestic abuse charity.

Background

This need was identified by the Examinations Officer at RBCS. It was piloted in December 2023 on a small scale. The level of donations increased dramatically in 2024 and the operation needed to be scaled up.

Resources

The advent calendar boxes and cosmetics are stored and packaged at RBCS. Staff and pupils are involved with this project.

Impact

35 advent calendar boxes will be distributed in December 2024.

Pupil Involvement

The pupils involved in the project are volunteers from our Sixth Form, girls and boys.

Frequency

It is planned that this activity will take place annually in the autumn term.
