Baseline Testing Analysis

Guildford High School (GHS) is very successful in using baseline data to help with tracking and identifying trends in cohorts. The Senior Teacher (Pupil Progress) at GHS worked with the Head Teacher of The Hurlingham Academy, analysing the data on each pupil. Teaching sets were suggested and gifted pupils were identified. Additionally, pupils who required further support were identified. This led to excellent progress of pupils across the year. The collaboration also gave rise to a Science and Maths Enrichment Day provided by GHS for the GCSE pupils at The Hurlingham Academy.

Aims

To analyse the baseline data of the Year 7 and Year 10 cohort.

Impact

The Head Teacher at Hurlingham was able to use the data for class setting and, when speaking to parents, illustrated the true potential of the pupils, some of whom were not fully aware of their strengths. It also led to the Head Teacher making a film on this work which was circulated amongst the United Learning schools.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils sat nationally standardised assessments.
