Author Talks with local state schools

Pupils from St Barnabas' C of E Primary School are regularly invited to talks by established children's authors organised by the Francis Holland School librarian. Signed copies of books are donated to St Barnabas' pupils and St Barnabas' staff attend.

Aims

To promote literacy and reading for pleasure at our partner school.

 

Background

Our Librarian at FHS is also an established children's author and benefits from several contcts in the industry and with other librarians. She and the Head of St Barnabas' identified that pupils at St Barnabas' were sometimes reluctant to read and that a visit from an author was often beyond the budget of such a small primary school.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils are involved from all year groups at St Barnabas'.

Frequency

This is an ongoing project with events in every school term as well as during Book Week.
