An evening with Sarah Jones

Science GCSE & A level students were invited to attend an evening with Sarah Jones from the company Globus Medical.

Aims

The aims of the talk was an introduction to Globus spinal surgery and the pathway in which Sarah took to forge a career in the field. Students were given the opportunity to consider their university pathways and consider further medical options. 

Background

The partnership with Sarah and Globus Medical came about when discussing with students careers pathways and areas they may wish to take. It was identified that some were particularly interested in the medical profession but had a narrow understanding of the profession. This opportunity allowed us to broaden this aspect.  

Resources

Use of the School Building to host the evening. Over 50 attended the evening including students within the community. 

Impact

The feedback from those that attended was extremely positive. It particularly highlighted how medicine is consistently changing and how AI is now playing a large part in surgery. 

Pupil Involvement

14-18 plus parents. Students also studying medicine at university also attended the event.
