An Evening with a renowned actor

An Evening Question & Answer session with a well renowned stage actor. Allowing both internal and external students enhance their understanding of the arts. 

Aims

The evening was an opportunity for students to hear from an award winning actor. It was aimed to welcome our community into the school to enhance opportunities for young people and to highlight key elements in making it within the performing arts industry. 

Background

The actor was contacted as a starting point to introduce St Gabriel's Society. We identified a need to highlighting career pathways into the arts. This was the first event for the society and was met with much excitement. We hope to continue these sessions with a range of guest speakers over the coming academic year.  

Resources

The event was held in our beautiful library, while drinks and canapes before hand where served in our oval room. This gave members of the community the chance to meet Sir Simon and also share future prospects with a variety of peers. Students where asked to prepare questions for the actor in order to personalise the evening. The event was ran by the Director of Partnerships and supported by the Principle, Vice Principal as well as both LAMDA teachers. The music department played live music within the Oval room further creating a dynamic and welcoming ambiance.

Impact

The evening was a great success across all ages. Feedback from The Watermill Youth Theatre leader was highly positive. The students since attending the evening have considered their pathways into the performing arts industry and also considered various university careers such as English degrees to coincide with further development in other aspects of their lives.   

Pupil Involvement

Students ages 11 -18 where invited to the event. Due to popular demand parents where also welcomed in to the event as well as local performers up to the age of 24. 

Frequency

We hope to hold future St Gabriel's Society events over the academic year allowing us to broaden our range of career pathways and inspirational speakers.
